Full service solution for a Canterbury Tale

Canterbury Cathedral isn’t a stranger to hosting large number of people en masse, it therefore seemed a unique and slightly unusual location for a intimate video screening. But, in fact, Canterbury Cathedral was the perfect choice for BBC South East’s screening of “A Canterbury Tale” by Michael Powell.

The original film was made 50 years ago, but with such fantastic developments in technology BBC South East transferred the film onto 4:3 High Definition DVD.

The screening was a celebration of the original production and BBC South East invited 400 local residents to the screening, many of whom had starred in the original production.

Rob Day, Project Manager at Creative Technology supplied two Barco HD18 projectors with accompanying processing equipment. Dimension Audio supplied a selection of speakers from their D&B range, all processed through a Yamaha LS9 mixer.

Although this was the first time Canterbury Cathedral had been used in such an unconventional way, since the event format was so well received, Canterbury Cathedral will explore additional markets in the future, for similar events.
